Where did Mother's Day come from?

Mother's Day first arose in the United States in 1908, when teacher Anna Jarvis wanted to honor her mother and her work with a special day. Since 1919, Mother's Day has been celebrated in Sweden, and it was thanks to the writer Cecilia Bååth-Holmberg. It was she who introduced Mother's Day on the last Sunday in May, when, according to her, there were lots of flowers and greenery in the country. Why do we celebrate Mother's Day?

Mother's Day is celebrated all over the world and falls on different days. In Sweden and among others France, Haiti and Tunisia, Mother's Day is celebrated on the last Sunday in May. In Denmark, Finland and the USA it is Mother's Day on the second Sunday in May, but in Norway Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday in February.
